MISSING TODDLERS FOUND DEAD
April 2, 2007
Susan Bates
On November 22, 2006, Tristan Anthony White, 4, and Avery Lee Stately, 2, put on their coats, hats and mittens and went outside to play. They were never seen alive again.

On Sunday, April 1, 2007, the two little brothers were found dead in a frozen lake one half mile from their home on the Red Lake Indian Reservation near the Canadian border.

Some people, including the little boy's parents, had clung to the belief that they had been kidnapped, but no Amber Alert was ever issued. Their story was told on an episode of "America's Most Wanted" and the FBI and the Red Lake Nation had posted a $30,000 reward for any information leading to the return of the boys.

The lake was searched immediately after the disappearances were reported but no sign of the toddlers was found. It is not known how the boys got to the far north part of the lake.

Three years ago another child disappeared from the Reservation. She has still not been found.

     An autopsy is planned.

Red Lake Reservation is no stranger to tragedy. On March 21, 2005, 16 year old Jeff Weise killed his grandfather and his companion, before going on a shooting rampage at the local high school killing 7 more people before killing himself.
