DEATH OF A NATION?
May 23, 2007
Susan Bates

As much as we may want to stop time, change is inevitable. Children are born, first steps taken, then all too soon, they are gone. But life goes on and there is always hope for a new and brighter tomorrow.
Isn't there?

I'm sure that is what our ancestors believed - those of us whose ancestors lived for thousands of years on the North American continent, anyway. I'm sure they thought that way when the first light skinned men landed on these shores. I wonder if the Original People had foreseen the death and destruction these men would soon bring upon them if they would have fed, sheltered and aided these interlopers? Probably not. But how could they know?

It is said there were more than 500 Nations of People living here at one time. Life wasn't perfect then, either. Tribes fought among themselves for more or better hunting grounds. Often women were captured or traded for to bring new blood into the villages. But beneath it all was a deep love and respect for the land and the "Maker of All that Is".

When did they know it was over? When did their last hope fade? Some of us stll fight on. Even when all seems hopeless, we continue. But now there is a new invasion. People from Mexico have been flooding this country for many years. And even though there is talk of building a wall and vigilantes patrol the border towns, our President backs a bill that would grant them amnesty But they are the least of our worries..

I wonder how many Americans aren't even aware that while they were sleeping, our nation has been virtually dissolved - without a vote or one shot fired. We will soon be part of a new North American Union based upon the European Union. Our currency will be replaced by a universal currency such as the "Euro." Life as we know it is coming to an end.

Soon, construction will begin on a 10 lane 400 yard wide NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) Super Highway which will run from the Mexican Port City of Lazar Cardenas through the heart of North America and into Canada. Between the north and south bound lanes there will be rail lines for passenger and freight traffic as well as oil and gas pipelines. The first customs check point along this highway will be in Kansas City.

According to my sources, the state of Texas was paid $2.1 billion up front and $700 million yearly for 50 years by a Spanish Firm, Cintra Concesiones de Infra who will collect the tolls. Cintra Concesiones was represented by the law firm of Rudy "911" Giuliani. Macquarrie, an Australian Consortium which leases and operates U.S. and Canadian toll roads, has since bought out Giuliani's firm. (Yes, foreign countries now own our highways and overpasses.)

Trucks and trains will travel south out of Canada carrying millions of tons of resources taken from over one million square miles of unsurrendered Indigenous land in the northern part of Turtle Island, through the U.S and Mexico and into the countries of the Pacific rim.

Containers carrying cheap non - union goods from the Far East will enter through the Mexican port of Lazaro Cardenas, where Mexican trucks driven by non-union Mexicans will drive north to Kansas City and then fan out in every direction.

Unions are under constant attack. Many jobs have already been lost to cheap foreign labor. Property values plummet as more and more workers are laid off and cannot keep up with their mortgage payments. The middle class is disappearing.

I have never met one person who is in favor of NAFTA, yet all of this is happening. Our country is being taken from us again.
When will we know it is over?

American Dream

We come on the ship they call the Mayflower
We come on the ship that sailed the moon
We come in the age's most uncertain hours and sing an American tune
But it's all right, it's all right,
You can't be forever blessed
Still, tomorrow's going to be another working day
And I'm trying to get some rest
That's all, I'm trying to get some rest
