Thank you for your website. I have been
waiting for my grandma's probate for nearly 2 years. I wonder why it
takes so long when I need to help my daughters out with tuition and to
keep my ranch going. This is crazy! The Albuquerque Area Title plant
takes soooo long to get things together. I don't know why the area
offices take so long when there are needs that our families must take
care off. Also, this was the same problem that I faced when I was
vice-chairman of the Pyramid Lake High School Board of Education. I
hope and pray that the people that are suppose to help us get of their
asses and do the work that is necessary to get us our monies, i.e.
probate and IIM monies. I hope and pray that things get better.
Blessings, and may you all walk in beauty. All my relations. Nathan

For the many requests we have received
concerning Native American names, we now have two links to a site with
Native American names (male and female) and a brief description for
each name. We at the nest, applaud our brother SnowOwl for his efforts
in finding this site. If he finds anymore we will post the links. If
others know of other sites that may give the tribes as well as the
names, you can email me at witticismink@aol.com and I will pass them
onto SnowOwl to check out. Here is the link to the links page:Native

The background color, and the slide out menu
off to the side are amazing, and very much eye catching. I was
browsing around for some Moose Meat Recipes and low and behold found
this website. I love it! You can betcha that I will be trying out a
few of the recipes as will my dad! He's the hunter of the family.
Although Dad is a senior, he and a few relatives and friends still
very much enjoy going hunting. They really enjoy it. I guess it makes
my dad feel like he's back home on the farm. Me I was born and raised
in the big city of Toronto. Although I myself have never hunted, I
would at least like to try it once in my lifetime. We recently , had
some wonderful Moose Meat-balls in sauce at Christmas time they were
supperb, even the kid's gobbled them up! I think that this website
will do wonder's for both my boy's in helping them with different
projects they get at school! Very informative, very helpful. Great
work so far and thank you guy's for taking the time out to ask us our
opinion's. Thanks Again, Take Care and Good-Bye from Toronto!

I was very touched by the honesty and love I
felt within your web site. Thank you for providing such a lovely site.
I do have a question that I was hoping you
could help me with. I've been asked to preside at a wedding ceremony
in Missouri this summer. They would like to do a Wedding Vase Sand
Painting. I see sand paintings of "The Wedding Vase" and
would like to know the "history" and meanings behind this.
Can you help me?
My Cherokee heritage is too far back to be
much help. Thank You, and healing Light and love to your eyes! But I
can see your vision is clearer than many with 20/20 sight! Rev. Lea

I need any assistance which you may be able
to provide. I am tracing my heritage through my father's side of my
family. His name was Henry Robert Simpkins and he was born in
Harrisburg, PA on September 25, 1925. His father was William Simpkins
and mother was Nellie Ravenscroft. They were from Somerset County, PA.
William Simpkins' father was Stewart Simpkins and his wife was
Catherine. I haven't much information in regard to my heritage. I know
they came from Great Britain and married an "Indian
Princess". They lived along the east coast (Maryland/West
Virginia/Pennsylvania). Any assistance in tracking my heritage would
be deeply appreciated. THANKS.

I found out only a short time ago that my
grandmother was full blooded native american (choctaw or cherokee).
Some family members have done a great job of finding information but
are at a stand still. It seems an elder, a female, in the family
forbide my grandmother and anyone else in the family from
acknowledging our native genes. Someone even suggested that a male
relation was Blackfoot Sioux. I can't explain how this knowledge has
explained so many long unanswered questions and feelings i've had
since I was a child. I am a medically retired police officer, now a
police chaplain (counselor) , a Victims Advocate, a critical incident
counselor and a eucharistic minister in my parish. For all of this I
still feel that I am suppose to be doing something, for my people. I
talk to the wind, I cry to mother earth for help and guidence but
there is still an empty place in my heart. I am not a "wanna
be" because although I have blue eyes, my heart is Native
American. I don't know where to look. I have a few copies of my grand
mothers personnel papers and enough information documenting
statistical data. Can you please guide me or point me in the right
direction. Thank You Katie Cumm-Hall

While researhg another subject I delightfully
discovered your pages. As an African "Amiracle" I found your
web site NECESSARY for your people, all people, especially the young.
Thank you for the many hours of hard work you put into this effort. If
we did not have people like you and others available to provide truth,
history and trends we would surely perish; if not actually, surely
spiritually we would die. I know of no other peoples on earth, the
Indian and Africans EVERYWHERE that have so much in common. According
to European literature we are counted "noble ...", but
someone else is clearly the "savage." Please keep up your
good work...You are NECESSARY!

related to the Native Americans. I am now 50 years old, I have 3
teenage daughters and my Parents are in their 80's. My Mom went into
the hospital a couple of weeks ago for major surgery and I decided it

I would like to place a suggestion in
response to Brother Jeff's comment. Jeff, the reason why pictures
cannot be copied and pasted is because they are copyrighted. In other
words, protected under certain laws , so that they cannot be copied or
reproduced. If you look under certain pictures, you will see the site
for such, and can contact the author regarding how to obtain the
picture.
I hope this has helped, certaintly this is a
great site, which one can learn much from.

To All The Site's Visitors:
Well, here it is - the very first birthday of
the site!
I find it hard to believe, What is even
harder for me to believe is that all you great hearts and gentle
spirits have managed to enable the site to pass the 6,000 Visitor Mark
within a year. I would say that is quite remarkable for a
non-advertising and non-profit site created and maintained by 3 Senior
Citizens! But regardless, it could not have been done without someone
coming to share what was offered: you! Thank you all - ever so much.
We, of the Nest, wish to let you know that is
only your visiting and your wonderful Comments that continues to give
us the strength to remain steadfast in our mutual pledge to do what
little we can to share the Honor, Respect, Love and Wisdom as well as
the Beauty found within the Heart Halls of various Peoples called
Native Americans by some, Indians by others.
With your continued support, and Great Spirit
willing - we shall continue to do so through this upcoming 2nd year.
Thank you again.
This is a great place as well, for me
personally, to thank with great humbleness, the other two of the 3
that make this site possible for their endurance, and steadfastness in
keeping our Labor of Love alive and well. As far as I am concerned,
most anyone can collect information and write...but it takes artists
to maintain a site...and this you two surely are! I love you both, and
I thank you.

Thankyou for the information I needed to help
me with my term paper. I accidently left my disk in another lab last
week and it was not returned. I am trying to write a paper in
comparism with native american signing and ASL. This morning I woke up
with the idea of sponsering a child, I am on a fixed income so $5.00
or 10 a month is all that I can do. I have heard of agencies putting
moneys into their pockets instead of directing it where it belongs,
that was one of the reasons I had postponed this decision. I would
prefer your response by letter: Po Box 1144 Fresno Ca. 93715
Thankyou again Barbara
PS. An indian here at Roading park gave me

I found your site by accident. What a
pleasant surprise! I feel totally connected to all you have to offer.
I'm visiting now for the second time and am impressed by the featured
new Native music station. I find that your choice of color scheme is
very eye appealing and relaxing. I have taken your idea of the slide
out menu for use on my site. www.tbhorses4sale.com
You should think about entering your site to
be judged for a web design award. (perhaps you already have?) You've
put such care and thought into the design and maintenance.
I shall return again and again.

I think the expression "the place where
the gods come and go" is related to the ancient Hebrew concept of
"tabernacle" or Immanuel - God with us. It shows a sense of
something or someone holy, beyond the mere human, a deep sense shared
in common by most cultures because it is true. We all have a sense of
heaven in our heart. By refering to a plurality of Gods and by
embracing a concept that God comes and goes is a finite and limited
dimensional understanding of a God that is finite in time and space.
God, who is both near and far, sees the beginning and the end, and
isthe source of all life, and all order is yet willing to tabernacle
among us. The indian sat down to meet with God. Some realized that the
gods were just personifications of the attributes of the one true God.
This was ususally information reserved for only the most spiritual. It
was considered (in most cultures) too abstract for the vast community
of people to comprehend.
Multitudes still sit down to meet with God.
We don't circumscribe our "tabernacle" with sand. Rather we
yield our own bodies and come "just as I am", without one
plea of any righteousnes of our own to be a shofar of God. Bone of
bone and flesh of flesh we are silent and of no value until God
breathes his life in us and His Word through us. The dead have been
raised, the sick have been healed and those who have been captive to
sin and death are free.
By the way, I have two sandpaintings by
Navajo artist Ole Ja. The are unframed, but appear to be of very good
quality. The sand is double thick and except for the black india ink,
all the sand colors are natural and not dyed. I am interested in
selling them. I paid about $200 for them about twenty years ago. One
is Father Sky and Mother Earth and the other is the Sun's Eagle. Their
dimensions are in the two to three feet range. If anyone knows a good
way for me to get these in the hands of someone who will value them,
please let me know. rd45acp@airmail.net

This is to Christine, and others who wish the
information to share...(s):
Thanks, Christine, for stopping and sharing
the site with us. If you will read what I put forth to Will, some of
it will apply here as well. However, I do see your point and the need
for what you request. I will say that I do have some Pow Wow
information in the works, but due to what I have already written to
Big Will, and the fact that my web mistress is just returning from a
serious illness, our web article installations are far behind. I will
look more diligently into the possiblity of being able to rank Pow
Wows on this site. One thing, I might suggest...that visitors such as
yourself, who experienced such as you described could, in fact: Put
all the valid information of the "event" here, as a warning
to at least the readers/visitors that do read the Guest Logs? As well,
if one were to send such information to Nightteagle (which is me, my
web working SN...smile), then I could arrange to have it put upon the
site in a section called say: Pow Wow Veteran's Speak Out....what do
you think? Again, I thank you for your comments and for taking the
time to share the site with us. - Snow Owl

This is in reply to Big Will, but for the
information of all. (s)
Thanks for stopping by the site, hope you
will return. As one can see, by the information in the Section called
A Few SnowwOwl Feathers, I am near 60 and am legally blind; I am also
the sole writer and gather of information, pics...etc., except of
course for the Contributor Section. Thus, the real reason behind we
not having the information of The People that you mentioned in your
kind Guest Log entry, is I simply have not yet gotten to it...(s). My
partners of love in the web adventure are as advanced in age as I, and
they do the installing and web maintenance and thus have no time for
the collecting and creating of material. As well, they have their own
business of Web Design to attend to. I will make notes on the
information you want, and try to do something about it...but I make no
promises at this time...I am so far behind in ongoing articles and
such. Thanks again, for visiting! - Snow

I really enjoyed this site and all the
information our people can log on to. I would like to see a section on
upcoming events and powwows, since this also is essential in keeping
in touch with our cultures, and traditions. In this particular site, I
would also like to see a section where these powwows can be rated by
those who visit them, and the visitors comments on these events can be
read. There are many of these events out there that are run by people
who do so under the name of our good nations. I recently attended one
the middle week of August in Pennsylvania. This particular event not
only disrespected & dishonored me and my nation (as I was their
Head Lady Dancer), but the Lenape nation , under whose name they used
to put on this menagerie. It is bad enough we receive criticism,
disrespect, & predjudism from the government and outsiders, but I
have a real problem with those who use our peoples good names and
nations to justify their means. Thank You for your information &
site-it was great. Wado- Agaliha Nokwsi

I found a unique piece of pottery at a
roadside stand in the Navaho Reservation. They called it a "steps
of a wedding vase." Does anyone know what the steps represent?
All I learned about a wedding vase is that each person drinks from
either side of it at the wedding to symbolize unity. Can anyone tell
me more? I purchased the vase thinking it would be a beautiful and
unique gift for my daughter and her fiance. I could hit myself for not
staying and talking more to the man at the stand. My husband was
patiently waiting for me but I was keenly aware that he was tired and
still had a long way to drive and really wanted to get on with our
trip! I would appreciate any information that anyone can share with
me!
