MAYAN ELDERS URGE DAY OF PRAYER-JANUARY 18, 2005
 January 11, 2005

I have just received an email from a group of Mayan Elders from Guatemala who are urging people to unite in a day of prayer in an effort to spare ourselves from some of the planet changing events which they have been shown are going to happen very soon.

They are urging us to remember the hurricanes that ravaged our southern coasts as well as the terrible earthquake and tsunami that devastated so many people along the coasts of the Indian Ocean. Now California is experiencing mud slides, the mountains are being buried in snow and flooding is taking its toll in the Ohio Valley. And they're warning us that this is just the beginning if we don't wake up and attempt to get ourselves back into balance. This warning is not meant to frighten us but is being put forth as "a call for bravery and for action."

I am reminded of a story I heard recently. A certain mountain village had been in the midst of a drought for 2 years. Not one drop of rain had fallen in all that time even though the medicine people had prayed daily for rain. Finally the villagers sent for an elderly medicine woman who lived far away. They knew that if anyone could get it to rain, she could.

The elderly woman made the journey. She walked around the village for a little while. Then she told the leaders that she needed a place to be alone at the edge of the village. They took her to a cave and left her there. She spent 4 days praying and meditating. Finally she walked back to town. As she walked down the main street, the sky turned dark and the winds blew. Rain began to fall!

The people were overjoyed and asked how she had done this miracle. She told them that when she had entered their village, everything was so out of balance that she quickly became unbalanced herself. So she distanced herself from them and spent 4 days getting herself and the village back in balance. When she had done that the rain was able to fall.

That is the way this earth has become. So many people have lost their connection to the Earth. Everything is so out of balance, and if we can't understand that and move to remedy the situation, there won't be any recourse but to experience all of the upcoming events in full force.

But here is something we can do. The elders are urging all people to pray at sundown on January 18th for all the people on this planet to become one in mind and spirit that we might be spared some of the forthcoming events. On the Mayan calendar the 18th of January is called Keme and prayers made on this day have great potential to protect us from danger. Again, the elders urge us not to react with fear as fear is negativity and will only make things worse. It is through love and understanding that this time will be shortened.

There will be many major ceremonies in the Mayan communities for this purpose. An open invitation is extended to humanity that wish to join the Mayan people for the Waxa'qib B'atz' ceremonies on February 12th in Guatemala.
