Spirit Hawk ^i^There was a time, not really all that long ago, that things were much different than today.
Our not too distant ancestors lived a very different life.
Everything they needed was provided by Mother Earth and the Creator above.
There was stone for making knives, arrow and spear points, hide scrapers and drills that were sharper than any of today's finest steel.
The Four Leggeds, the Winged Ones and the Fishes all provided meat, hides for clothing and bone for even more tools.
Nothing was wasted and everything had a use.
Plants were everywhere that provided not just food, but medicine as well.
Medicine without more side effects than a person can count that are all worse than the problem being treated.
Our ancestors drank the purest water fresh from streams and springs, not from plastic bottles.
A person knew where they stood with everyone around them, including their enemies.
A man was encouraged to be an individual, to be himself, for that was admired.
Yet he would lay down his life for his fellow People without a moments thought.
If he went to war, he knew the reasons why, and those who sent him to war fought right by his side.
Our ancestors respected the Earth, all things upon it, and the Creator above it.
We loved our children and took the time and effort to teach them right.
We respected each other and valued our history, our ancestors, and traditions.
We strived to honor the Creator in all things we did.
But something changed. These ways were cast aside.
To this day these ways are being cast farther and farther aside.
Why you may ask?
Why throw away such a good way of life, one that had proved itself so for hundreds of years?
It is because the White Man taught us different. He forced on us a new way of life. One, he said we must live if we were to survive in what was now his world.
He taught us progress and civilization and a new religion.
He taught us mistrust, hatred, and despair.
He taught us to drink whiskey instead of pure water.
To buy food laced with chemicals, to wear designer clothing made from synthetic material.
He taught us we have to worship the Creator only in Church and to forget about him as soon as we walk out the door.
He taught us our stories and traditions were nonsense and not worthy of serious thought.
He taught us to throw away truth and to worship lies. He taught us to forget who we are.
Many of us are still trying to forget, but some of us still remember the old ways.
Still remember our ancestors and a better way of life.
Some of us refuse to let those ways die.
No, I do not expect you to go back to those old ways of living, but the traditions, the ceremonies, the values, we once held so dear, still have great value.
They have the very power to heal our ailing Nations.
Do you believe in the ways of the Creator, for he gave our ancestors their ways, or do you believe in the ways of the White Man?
Are you truly one of The People...or just a shadow of what you could be?
I am Adanvdo Towodi., Spirit Hawk.....

and I refuse to let our ways die!
