IT'S EASY TO POINT FINGERS - INSTEAD LETS FIX THINGS
December 10, 2007
Spirit Hawk ^i^Much has been said lately about how much hate is shown towards the white race by our People.
Right off the bat I'd like to state where I personally stand.
I don't want there to be any misunderstanding as I strive to say exactly what I mean.
I do not hate anyone. Period!
I am certainly angry with some, due to their actions or lack there of.
But hey, my wife and I get angry at each other now and then, but we certainly don't hate each other.
If we did we wouldn't still be married after 34 years. lol
I am definitely disappointed in some people as well.
But again, there is a big difference between anger, disappointment and hate.
When talking about the issues facing our People it is easy to feel that much of what is said is based on hate.
But again, you must understand the differences in the meanings of Hate, Anger and Disappointment.
Many are saying that our People should not dwell on past wrongs done to us.
I agree, but that does not mean those wrongs should just be forgotten either.
What you have to realize is that many of those wrongs are still being done today.
Many say we should turn the other cheek.
In a perfect world that would be a lot easier to do, but we do not live in a perfect world.
Go on to a Rez and tell those living there in extreme poverty that things would be better for them if they just "turned the other cheek!"
Imagine if I gathered together a bunch of my friends and we stormed into your home, told you that it, the land it sits on, all the land surrounding it, everything on the land, and all your possessions now belonged to us.
Because we out numbered you, and were the greater force, you would now be required to live under our rules.
You were to live where we said you could and speak as we told you to, you had no choice.
Could you honestly tell me that you would be of the mind then, or even years down the road, to turn the other cheek?
Particularly if little had changed?
It's easy to sit in a comfortable home, far removed from the problems, and judge how those actually involved should handle things but it's a far different situation if you are the one actually having to deal with them.
It truly broke my heart that a dear friend's son read about and was so troubled by these issues.
I feel he is just one more victim in this sad mess.
He is just one of many, of mixed blood, that are confused and hurt by not knowing where they quite fit into the scheme of things.
On one hand they have the blood of The People flowing in their veins and on the other Caucasian blood.
The battle of knowing what is right wages within each of them.
I have always said that it is not the quantity of the Peoples blood flowing in your your veins, but the quality that counts.I feel that is very true.
There are those of our own People that have done us as much harm as any Caucasian person ever did.
In short, there is good and bad in all Races of people.
What I feel we should all be concentrating on is this...
We are all aware of the problems our People face, we are even aware of the causes, so don't you think it's about dang time that we started turning our energy towards solving them?
I dare say of the kids contemplating suicide, the alcoholics drowning in booze, the drug addicts committing crimes to pay for their next fix, the people suffering from hunger and disease, our youth courted by gang life, that none of them care about who is being politically correct.
They need real help, not just words, angry or otherwise.
I pray that each of you understand and take my words to heart.....So says, Spirit Hawk ^i^
