This is awesome. I am about to bookmark your website. I am interested in Native American lore, religion, customs and legend. I did some quick research today about how to make corn dolls. I am so glad that I found this website. I can't wait to read more. Thank you! This is not information that I can get from my next-door-neighbors.

Thank you for providing this site! I am new here, it was forwarded by a friend looking for smudging information.,,I have long been in awe of the Native Americans, and wanting to learn more. Not since has any people taken such care of Mother Earth, given her such respect. It is heavy on my heart to see the destruction all around. I can only imagine how the indigenous tribes felt when forced off their lands and into a lifestyle that is not of their choosing. My forefather's creation of the nation we now have is shameful to me, yet I must manage to navigate this modern world as conscientiously as I can. Part of this journey is to learn much about the indigenous ways, to gain a connection with the Earth and other people to honor the spirit of life that runs within every part of creation...Again, I thank you for providing this site, and I will be spending quite some time here; and with the links you provide so generously. I am looking forward to the learning experiences, and hope to attend some powwows soon too. I had been to one years ago, and loved it :-) ... Peace and blessings be with you,..Katie

In the prophecies of the Hopi, the Cherokee, and the Lakota Sioux, it is told that the Red Nation will rise again with the birth of the Rainbow Tribe. My brothers and sisters,my spirit guides have led me to understand that I part of that Nation. Bear, Wolf, and Buffalo have visited my dreamtime to lead me to this discovery. I now am connecting with others who too are finding this connection to our past. I look forward to meeting others who are traveling down this sacred path of the Rainbow Tribe.

The major reason the two search engines have allowed your site to be listed this way is you paint a very clear, vivid picture of the white man’s greed,he was not content to live among the Indian’s, he had to own the land and take what land he wanted. No I am not an Indian (I am honorary adopted by two American Indian Tribes), but I am one of the greatest supporters they have, I am ashamed of the way the white man took advantage of them and tried to place all the blame on the Indian.

I loved my visit to this site. I got a peek into the very heart of the First Nations people. May I ask forgiveness on behalf of my people for their many injustices both past and present against your people? I stand with the First Nations and deplore the attitudes, broken treaties, and pillaging that you have endured at the hands of the white man. I am truly ashamed of my own people in this regard. I would like to be one who facilitates reconciliation. How can this be done?

Thank you Snow Owl,I am very honoured to have been guided to your wonderful and informative site. I am a western woman with some clairvoyant ability, and have always revered Native America. It really saddens me to see the terrible rape of forests with selfish logging done by western American industrialists, and see the terrible similaries here in my own city and England. Where there were meadows and lovely fields , woods and even rough land areas in between streets stand factories, disused offices, more houses and flats to accomadate the rising population. I now feel choked and trapped whilst old trees even now are cut down in a local park, to make way for a football turf. I despair of western mans' greed and ignorance toward Nature. I hope before to late this insanity will stop, yet the foolishness goes on...Thank you for giving me some peace.

I loved the story about being "Part Indian". I too have a great grandmother who was a Blackfoot Indian as the story goes and now I fully intend to further investigate the side of my ancestors history. My mothers family is small and more are "going home" each decade. I have asked mother if she knows anything more to tell me, I plan to discuss this with her again so I can tell my children. I've always been proud of this background especially since I was born in the Kanab, Utah area. As the story goes everyone thought I was a little Navaho baby because of my features. My children have asked me about this also and I need to pass on this living history to them. Thank you for encouraging me to follow up.

To read some of the comments/quotes of the calvery hurt my heart. Though I am not a full blood Native Amercain, I am happy to read that a church apologized for wrongs that they didn't do. My family has Cherokee blood in them on my mothers side and I am so proud. Oddly sometimes I feel like I was born in the wrong time, haha. I guess what I am trying to say that my though I am not true blooded in my heart i wish I were. that sounds odd but true non-the-less

I just wanted to comment on the poem by snow owl, about common sence...i really enjoyed that poem. It seems as people and defently as americans our ideals simply get washed down the drain. Everybody has something to complain about, but wont take action to do anything. Its quite pathetic. What is anyone fighting for anymore, merit? pride? money? or do we not know what else to do? is it stained in us?? Somemany people worry about their "BIG" lives that they forget where they came from.. mankinds roots are from nature. They forget about the land that is wasting away around us all. But they all just sit and waste away themselves... I dont really think anyone has common sence, the core to our nature, ournatural instincs..everyone will just drive away from their problem in their big cars and lost souls.Well anywho i hope i didnt get too off topic or loose point! i really enjoyed your poem, i will read more and have a wonderful day.

I am a student at the University of Phoenix. I am taking a class on ethics and have chosen the Sioux people as my project. I have read many things on the Great Sioux Nation to get a look into the history of this proud nation. I am white but am appalled at what my ancestors have done. I think many of us have heard the stories of General Custer but I never really believed that it could be true that this government allowed that to happen. I have no way of showing my sorrow for what this people had to endure. I can only hope that my apologies are accepted and that this never be allowed to be forgotten. There is a true testament of the strength of man exhibited by this people. Again I can not say it enough I am sorry for the loss of life freedom land dignity and respect that was stolen from your people. I wish I could more but for now I will make sure that the few people in my class understand that this struggle was real.

I truly loved reading the material on this site. I want to say that I am ashamed of how the white people of old, and maybe still, treated the American Indian(s). I have for many years, felt bad...guilty for what has happened to the tribes of all American Indians. I wish I could help change all that.

I have a chance to visit Pine Ridge this summer. First of the reasons, is I have a missing daughter who use to know Frankie Whitecalf and I need to talk to him...There are other reasons which I wanted to do this a long time ago...My Great Grandfather who which is American Indian. No one can not deny this by his picture. My Great Grandfater married a white woman. Most of the family members do not recognize him a American Indian. I was told his parents/or parent came from Ireland., I also was told that my Great Great Grandfather was in the Wild Bill show. I read once and do not know for sure but I understood that many American Indians were in Ireland for some reason and was given other names. Is this true? My grandmother was a beautiful woman. Most of the children of my Great Grandfather were just like him. Plus, my Great Grandfather was a coalminer who also had the privelege of being the head of the coalminers union and was put on a magazine. I need help for my grandmother, even though she has past I still have my other family members who needs this info. My grandmother talked about my Great Grandfather who would sleep in a tepee before the house, he almost did get killed by other Indians why I do not know except it was in his home and my great grandmother screamed. There was a letter from a reservation and it was a secret my Great Grandfather would not speak about it and burnt the letter. So, with this much information how can some family members deny him. Any help would be appreciated.

I was once, referred to and, seen by a shaman for various medical ailments. I was very grateful and the wonderful hospitality and caring of the tribe. I was given the name Moon Wolf Star Dancer and I am wanting others to accept all people and see how nasty the government was to select people because they, the government, wanted great land and at a cost of many suffering and dying.,,Bless you for having this page and I hope we all can start a bonding and be friends into the Summerland,...Moon Wolf Star Dancer

It saddend me to hear of his passing, he will be in my heart. Ihave been trying to reach Aunt Jo since my father Robert Joseph Simon, passed on in May. First I am a non American Indian Very intrested in the Indian Culture of the Thumb of Michigan My Ancestores settled in the Thumb of Michigan in the 1850ies.From Western Europe. Most of the Indians left the area after the first big Forest Fire of 1871. We all hear of the 1881 Fire Because the 1871 Fire made the land eaiser to farm and many households burned out with the 1881 fire. My great grand mother was born East of Minden City in alog cabin about 1848 and she told stories of playing with Indian children to about 1870 and the the all left for Caro on the Cass River. After the 1881 fire the big game was almost all gone and it took about 100 years for the big game to ome back

My fiance is Lakota and came to the United States from Canada and was subsequently adopted by an American family in Pennsylvania when he was 7. I am interested in learning more about his heritage as we begin to plan our life together
